Apiary Medical, Inc. is proud to be a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB). Founded in 2004, Apiary was created to supply superior quality surgical instruments, medical devices & supplies at reasonable prices, while simultaneously providing meaningful employment for Disabled Veterans, Veterans and First Responders. We ensure all our medical supplies meet the highest quality standards and accomplish a thorough check to ensure all products meet the required standards with the appropriate governing bodies.

John Atkinson

John had a 21-year career in the US Army with 17 years in Special Operations. John suffered multiple wounds in combat and was subsequently medically retired. He ended his career as Director of Medical Operations for a Special Forces element. Following military life, he worked in the surgical spine realm before joining Apiary Medical in 2019. John holds a B.A. degree in Political Science from The Citadel and lives in Charleston, SC. with his wife, children and dogs.

 


Dan Carlton

Dan is our current Director of Operations. Daniel spent over 15 years in the US Army, serving most of his career as a Special Forces soldier, Green Beret. Daniel was medically retired after losing his leg above the knee to an IED attack in 2012 while serving in Afghanistan. Post military retirement, Daniel worked in the aerospace industry prior to working for Apiary Medical. Dan has a bachelor's degree from Norwich University in Strategic Studies and Defense Analysis. When away from the office he can be found tending to his honeybee ranch where he manages a small-time honey company and provides pollination services to Texas ranchers. He currently lives in Texas with his wife Juanita and seven children.

  


Chris Hadsall

Chris spent over 10-years in the Marine Corps working in various operational roles including Special Operations. Chris's military career was cut short by a suicide car bomb in Iraq that led to a medical retirement. Chris started his post-military career in the Federal Government as a Contracting Specialist. He subsequently moved into healthcare and became the Director of Strategic Accounts for Zimmer Biomet, and Medtronic/Titan Spine where he was responsible for establishing, maintaining, and administrating complex contracts with Group Purchasing Organizations and Hospital Systems. Chris has an MBA from the University of Colorado, and an MS in Marketing from the University of Colorado at Denver.


Tracy Hadsall

Tracy brings her many years of experience working with Ingersoll Rand in National Accounts, and Delta Petroleum as an Executive Assistant. Tracy previously worked as a Medical Assistant in obstetrics and gynecology. Her first-hand knowledge in outside sales support, as well as end user’s needs, gives her a deeper understanding of the importance of high-quality customer service.

Grant Lejonvarn

Grant grew up in Minneesoooda, graduating from The University of Minnesota, and off to see the world as a Marine Corps Logistics Officer, serving in Logistics, ANGLICO, Communications, and Maintenance units, plus as a FEMA Liaison and in Staff leadership roles. He started his sales career covering Nebraska, with an armful of catalogs and a map, then moving on to Oklahoma, Kansas, Chicago, and finally Colorado, earning many sales awards, most recently as the #1 Boss Instrument sales rep. Grant is the 3rd Chief Janitor at Apiary and has his hands in a bit of everything. He’s an avid trail runner and competitor and is often sleep deprived along with his wife Vikie and 4- & 2-year-old sons. Grant also earned his MBA and most recently EMT certification, completing 28 years of service in The Marines.


Shana Ramsey

Shana has been working in the Accounting field for over 20 years. She started fresh out of college working for an Advertising/Printing Agency as a Staff Accountant. She then took on an independent role as a Freelance Accountant, performing multiple financial tasks for a diverse set of companies. She has spent the last 9 years as the Senior Accountant at another fast-growing medical company. Shana holds a BS in Accountancy from the University of Southern Indiana.
